Hi everyone
I have been assisting a friend with his Rotax 914 ( wont rev past 3000 rpm) . Gotten to the point where we need the monitor program.
I am getting the error 68. And a message stating that the software is incompatible with my 64 bit windows 7 system.
This is slightly different from the above issue i think. Also it would seem it sort of runs just once immediatly after installation, after that it crashes even after a computer cold boot. ( it does seem to be a terrible bit of software written in the 90's) but that aside its what we got.
Apology if this should have been a new thread , wasnt sure which way to post this.
Ps i am very familiar with serial coms i work with them regularly.
Anyone got any further thoughts , i cant rebuild my windows 7 just for this.

"error 68" is usually due to issues with the serial-to-usb converter ( if not using a DB9 serial port).

have you checked the video on that? ( https://www.rotax-owner.com/videos-topmenu/rotax-minute/435-tcutips )

Sometimes a clean uninstall/reinstall of the TLR software will solve it, sometimes not

Hi, Alan!

I have been thinking about your issue and I can assure you that a clean install is your optimal solution. HOWEVER, since you have your reasons to not perform that (or at least it's a last resort), I think I might be able to help you. The crudest solution I have is for you to download and install Oracle's VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads). After that you can install a 32 bit version of windows 7 and install the TCU software, and attempt to connect to the engine. You can also follow my advice from the beginning of the topic. Also, if you encounter any more difficulties, please message me, so I can give it a look and try to help you.

I think there might be other, more elegant solutions, however I do not have the needed programming capacity to figure it out.
