Oil Filter Too Close to Exhaust

I'm finding that my plane isn't the only one with this issue (Tecnam P2008 with 912 ULS) but I haven't found anyone admitting to a fix. Every time I change my oil filter, I have to loosen the exhaust pipe in order to have enough room to remove the old filter. There just isn't enough room between them. As the old filter is unscrewed it comes in contact with the exhaust pipe but the threads are still firmly attached. I have to loosen the pipe to get the old filter off and the new filter on. So since the oil filter was changed and made longer, how are others dealing with it? I consider this a real pain.

    I've had a couple of these planes. Only one was really so close that another mechanic stripped the threads on the oil filter. You can try to loosen the exhaust nuts a tad and drive the entire exhaust over an inch or so to the left side and see if that doesn't give you a little more clearance. That's what I did for that other Tecnam. You'll have to look at your plane and see if there are any obstructions that wouldn't allow the muffler to move over just a tad.

    I agree with Roger that is the first thing to try. If that doesnt work, I would, carefully, remove about two threads from the male filter stud sticking out of the engine. That hollow stud is quite a bit longer than it needs to be in my opinion.
