regulator/rectifier

Has anyone had a problem getting the wires to stay in the connector? I used the wire connectors provided :( , but they wil not stay in the connector?

    Hello Jack;
    I had a similar problem with one of the wires being very loose.
    All I did was very carefully, with needle nose pliers, squeeze the connection together.
    It is better to do a little at a time, since trying to open them up is a real pain.

    Simple but effective fix.

    The only time that has happened to me is when the charge circuit has been overloaded and the connectors got overheated. Is your battery in good condition, was it discharged during startup and taxi then overloaded after takeoff and cruise RPM,s are constant as the charge circuit tries to power all accessories and recharge the battery this overloads/overheats it and over stresses the components of the charge system.

    The female spade connectors that go into the reg/rec plug have a tab on them. Look closely it is small and between the wire and the large flat part on the connector. If these have been flattened some they will not snap in place. If you can pull on a wire and it slides out the tab is not locking it in. Take a small tip screwdriver and locate that tiny tab. Push or lift it up so it is not laying flat. Now when you slide the spade connector into the plug slot it may snap and if you pull it will not come out. If there is a hole where the tab was it means someone broke it off and now you should replace that spade connector.


    If you have taken these wires out before you most likely just flattened the locking tab. Just raise it up again so it locks in place.
