You'll have to ask the service center you bought it from about return policies. Once used you'll own it. maybe if it isn't opened you could ship off your modules and have them tested for a definitive answer. If they test good then the other one has not been opened and maybe they'll take it back? That you'll have to ask them.

well, after a month and a half, I got the new ignition module installed, but no joy. problem still exists. next step is to diagnose the trigger coils on the crank. :(
anyone run across this before ?.
Well, after 2 months, the problem was diagnosed and fixed. the primary lead to the ignition coil had a broken wire, right inside the insulation. good detective work by a good rotax tech. saved me from buying a new coil. repair was made by soldering a splice, and sleeving it in shrink tubing.
