Quick update...
I just went by the hangar this evening and followed your advise. The L and R were installed correctly but the rotary valve appeared to be upside down according to the diagram you sent. The big hole was on the bottom whereas your diagram showed it on top. Turned it 180 degrees and put both sides back together. And guess what... IT FIRED UP IMMEDIATELY! The choke is working now.

I hope to be a 912 expert over time so I can return the favor to others. For now, I'm a big fan of this site.
