912 ULS Engine Test on test stand

hi guys, i recently planing for a engine test on my test stand. may i know what is the maximum rpm that my 912 uls can go during the test? iddle speed should be 1400 propeller will be attached. thanks

    Hi Tan,

    Do not idle your ULS down at 1400 rpm. The compression is too high for that. When reading the manuals remember that they are written for three engines. Use the right operating numbers and info for the correct engine. The UL engine has a much lower compression and can handle lower idle rpm's better. Personally I don't run a UL engine down that low either just to idle it. Running the ULS down at 1400 will just beat the gearbox up over time. You want a smooth run so when it starts keep it at 2000 rpm and let it warm up to the minimum operating oil temp of 120F. I would not idle my ULS under 1800 for long periods. You can idle down to a lower rpms, but it is best done when you have taxied in and are getting ready to shut down. You can run it up to normal operating rpm's on the stand, but Rotax did that before it left the factory.

    There really isn't a need to do a test run. When you are ready to run it the first time on the plane it will start right up and run like a top.
