On the newer 912 uls engines , the ones that have the new style heads, the coolant temp sender does measure coolant temperatures. There is a SB on it and the temperature range allowed. SB-912-066

It does and those engine have the sensors on top of the cylinder. The heads are interchangeable. You can put a new style on a 912 with the sensor on the bottom.
