Tom,
I have a three blade prop and after flying and putting it in the hangar I would always move the prop by hand with one blade straight down. For what ever reason other than it looked better that way. By putting the one blade down sometimes it would be in the middle of a compression stroke. I began noticing when I pulled out to fly, I would pull the prop through about 10/15 times. Sometimes one of the cylinders would be weak, never found out which one, but now I believe a lifter bled down because of the position of the prop. I no longer set the prop in any particular position, but it is between the compression stroke and it has been a while since I have had a weak cylinder. Also when I did have the weak cylinder, I could run it a few minutes, shut it down, and all four cylinders felt equal.
