On the 912, because the cylinder heads are water-cooled, do you have to worry about thermal damage (shock cooling) if power is suddenly reduce from cruise speed to idle? I thought I read that it is perfectly acceptable to pull power all the way back to idle from high cruise speed.
No shock cooling issues. Pull back power whenever you need.
Think of this engine more like a motorcycle engine rather than a loose tolerance, old technology air cooled Cont. or Lycoming.
You'll mentally have a better handle on the 912's capabilities and strengths.
