914UL - Reason for oil in tray under carburetors

Hi

I have oil collecting in trays under each carburetor, which then blows all over the place. (Has about 2ml in tray after flight) It seems to get sorted out at each service by AMO, they say it is not a problem. Any idea where it could be coming from? Could not see the same issue on other 914s.

HI all. Sorry I eventually found a previous question answered.

"The oil is coming from your turbo. You have a leaky check valve or the scavenge pump is blocked with coke."

This is on a 580 hour Sling2 experimental I am looking to purchase. It has an Airmaster VP prop. The owner said he would operate it at high power settings, but not exceeding the maximum.

Would there be a concern with buying this engine?
Suggested pre-purchase investigations?

Hi Ian,

If you are using 100LL then that is what that is or just dirty 91 oct. most of the time. Most likely this is coming from the carb bowl gasket. replace the gasket and torque the bowl bolt properly.
