Hi all, thanks for this site, lot of useful information.
Im planning to replace the oil pump spring, ball and screw, do I need to purge the oil system after performing this.
Should I use loctite on the oil pump screw.Any other recommendations.
If you follow exactly the wording of SI-912-018 Purging of oil system, yes you need to purge the oil system. But, the intent/spirit of the SI is to avoid draining of the lifters by leaving the oil galleries open for a extended period of time (example would be removing the ball/spring/screw and then going for dinner/movie) or introducing a large quantity of air into the oil gallery (example: draining oil cooler and then starting engine)
By the strict letter of law you need to purge but if you remove and replace the ball/spring/screw without any delay you will not introduce any more air than a simple oil filter change and this is not problem.
