I have the opposite issue. I have a vacuum pump that I want to remove. Other than placing a cover after removal, are there any parts that need to be removed from the gear box? Thanks, James Thomas

You can just remove the pump if you like. The drive, bearings and seals will be fine by themselves.
Or you can remove the studs as well to clean it up
Or you can put an aluminium plate over the hole. Whatever you prefer.
