In order to install a heater muff, I have pulled the muffler off my 912ULS. In this engine install, the oil tank quick drain valve it so close to the muffler that even a circus performer could not slip a hose on the valve nipple. While I am down doing these mods, I was trying to procure the fittings to add a SS tube fitting to the drain port so the future oil changes won't have me donating flesh from my knuckles. It looks like the drain threads are M12 bolt threads, so I am stumped on what fitting to use to accomplish relocating the drain valve. Surely somebody out there has already figured this out and can point me in the right direction.
Oh, and should I buy new exhaust springs too? Any other tips or ideas are welcomed.
Thanks
Mike
I have the same problem with the drain plug access.
What I do is turn the prop to insure all the oil is in the tank, undo the oil fittings, remove the ring clamp, pull out the screen, use a hand suction pump to remove the oil from the tank into a one gallon jug.
Then clean the screen, bottom plate and bottom of tank, assemble all and fill with three liters of oil.
Always remembering not to turn the prop when the fittings are open.
Hi Rob,
Yes, I think it will take care of the issue. In fact I located this early this morning while searching the net and have one on order. Thanks for the suggestion.
