Just advised by my AP of the need to change out my carb floats. These were installed last year and are now too heavy to return to service. I'm concerned that Rotax, or the Carb MFG are unable to come up with a credible fix after all these months of research. Having to recheck the floats every 25hr can get expensive very quickly. I'm expecting Rotax to step up and push hard for a long lasting floats AND insure the replacement floats are not expensive. In fact, until the fix is in, should be free to replace.

Hang in there. Sinking floats are nothing new. They have always had that capability, but have been pretty dependable. It seems they had a bad batch. A lot of people panicked when this SB came out. I don't think it has been that bad. Yes there have been some bad floats for sure.
I have heard they already have a fix. If you have the floats inspected make sure you fill out a CSIR and send it in to your regional service center with any bad floats, document it well in your logbook and don't throw the old floats away. Rotax will reimburse for floats that need replacement and 3/4 hr. for labor.
It is a quick and easy inspection if you weigh the floats. 3/4 hr. is reasonable when done the right way.

Roger, Thanks so much for responding. This is good news, especially knowing of Rotax's willingness to assist with come portion of the costs. I will let my A/P know asap. He will be in Sebring next week and be discussing this with Rotax. Let us know if you find out any more information.
