Could anyone direct me to the official Rotax-recommended shutdown procedure for a 912S?
One mag off, pause a couple of seconds, 2nd mag off, with throttle at idle seems to be a well-used procedure, to avoid the very abrupt instant stop, but I'd like to know if it's approved or not.
The only official procedure is found in the operators manual; it is only a general note on to cool the engine down before shutting it off.
Your technique is OK. low idle for a few moments for shut down will not hurt anything. It is sustained low idle that wears the gearbox.
