Don't worry; this type of gauge has been used to test the 914 fuel pressure for over 25 years with no problems. They have brass bellows inside that are not affected by fuel (they also make great carb sync gauges)
Just read one output from the fuel pressure regulator; just like the drawing shows.

I should clarify: you need a MAP gauge from a turbocharged twin as gauges from naturally aspirated twins only go to approx 30 inHg. The turbo gauge will read to approx 70 inHg.

Rob, thank you very much for your help.
We found the variable position valve to be faulty, so I replaced it.
We changed all of the air hoses and I did the dual gauge measure.
I searched and found an old computer with a serial connector, so I could calibrate the new valve using the software.
Now my engine is running great again.
Thanks for the advice.

I'd be very grateful if you could explain in more detail what software you used and how you recalibrated the throttle butterfly position potentiometer.
