right away, it should use very little oil for the life of the engine.

This has been great advise. I removed one suspect cylinder and the ring gaps were not set right. Reset them and everything appears to be okay so far. I am not a mechanic but the 912 is super easy to work on. No reason to be intimidated at all if the manual is followed.
