A member of the REMOS forum put a Shorai18 amp battery (LiFePO4) . Any experience/comments out there? Any problems with the the voltage regulator or 20 amp Rotax 912 alternator?
I have installed a SUPER B 5200 in my FK9ELA with a ROTAX912 80 HP for a year now.
It is also a LiFePO4 battery,
Experience: very good starter battery, fully charged after 5 min flight, no problems with the alternator as long as you keep the voltage below 14 volts.
After hangaring during the winter and no charger connected to the battery it starts in the spring without any problems.
Quite a few have started using Lithium batteries now, both individuals and factory aircraft. As you already know Flight Design and a few other companies are using them and I haven't heard any negatives.
