I just received a new 912s engine and have been installing the fuel lines. I noticed a small tube nipple hanging straight down under the neck of the fuel pump. It is an open nipple with no apparent purpose. I can't find any info on it or any reference to it in the Rotax parts or heavy maintenance manuals. What is it and what do I do with it? Do I plug it with something or hook it up to something?
Do not block it off. It is a vent tube. Install a tube on the fitting and run it down to an opening on the bottom of the cowl. Keep it away from the hot exhaust pipes. Do not run it out into the air slip stream.

Thanks Roger.
I am amazed there is not a thing in the engine documentation about it. Is it something brand new they have added and not yet documented it?
Hi James,
New items and changes are documented in SI-912-020 "running mods" (attached).
This SI is broken down into ATA-100 chapter system just like other aviation manuals:
00-00-00 Introduction
73-00-00 Fuel system
74-00-00 Ignition
75-00-00 Cooling
76-00-00 Engine controls
78-00-00 Exhaust
79-00-00 Lubrication
This is just an intermediate step; when the next revision of the parts and maintenance manuals are issued the changes will be included.

Bringing this back alive.... My new installed 912ULS has this nipple at the bottom of the factory installed fuel pump. I ran a hose/pipe to the bottom of the cowl away from the exhaust pipes. After 10 hours of running I pulled the lower cowl off for inspection and I see a small amount of OIL leaking from this line. Is this normal?
Thank you
