Based on Roger's and your advice, I'm going to thoroughly clean and verify the ground on my present sensors. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely call GRT. I did not know they had the 10mm on hand, as I only looked at their web site. Good info.

That's the problem with some A&P's when working on a Rotax they treat it like a Cont. or Lycoming then problems arise.
It may not even be the probe insertion at all. Check the spade connection it should be firm when you try to move it and not loose. Then read the post I just put on the CTflier website as far as grounds and a new grounding wire which has solved some of these very issues especially on composite aircraft.

We're not comparing engines, we're comparing CHT sensors. I'd still like to know specifically why a ring mount is unacceptable in a Rotax. There are a number of retailers who will be glad to tell you why they're fine on a 912, you just have to use a different gauge. I know they will read differently so one will have to calibrate them accordingly.
I have a 912S That had a coolant temp probe go bad about a year ago. I removed the cyl. head temp probe and used it to replace the bad coolant probe. I then replaced the removed probe with a 10mm ring type probe held in place with a stainless 10mm hex head bolt. Cyl. head temps were the same as with the old plug.
Didn't intend to use the ring type permanently, but I just happened to have one in the shop so I tried it. Since the temp. readings were the same, I just left it. Have had no problems since.
I should add that my gauge is a GRT eis4000 and no calibration was necessary when I went from the probe type to the ring type. I'm not sure, but I think I bought the 10mm ring type from GRT.
