I just picked up my customers Lambada with a 912 UL 80 hp and after warm up it shows only 2 bar of oil pressure. That is the absolute bottom of the green arc. This is the first time I flew it today. I suspect it has been this way for its life time. I have not had time to look at a manual as yet. So, I am hoping for some idea before I get started on it. Any help appreciated.
The first thing you need to do is try another pressure sender, they are known to be "mickey mouse" and don't usually read correctly or if they do, then not for long.
The low oil pressure as standard is pretty common but you can shim the oil pressure relief valve spring with a washer or a rotax shim. Although they are only 1.5mm thick they do make a big difference. I would suggest you replace the spring and ball at the slightest sign of wear.
If you get the pressure up too high, you will probably end up with an oil leak.
2 bar is 29psi which is a little low, but like Mark said most times it is the sender just going bad. You can just replace the sender if you want and or attach a mechanical gauge to the oil system and double check it. There is a port you can use down by the sender itself. The threads are 1/8"NPT-27. Never shim the oil pressure plug without always double checking with another gauge the actual pressure. The shims are available, but very rarely ever needed. If you have the old style oil plug and ball bearing you may want to change those parts out with the new oil plug screw, a new spring and the oil pressure regulator cone. It only takes 5 min and is easy to get to. Cost of parts is around $72.
