Drip Trays & Carb Heat?

I don't currently have any means of carb heat on my 912ULS other than that radiated from the exhaust manifolds and I've never had any problem with icing. I'm going to install drip trays (Rotax or homemade TBD) under the carbs which will shield some of this heat. My question is will I now need to provide some other source of carb heat to avoid an icing situation?

    Mike,

    Many people do without carb heat but where I live in the south, It is frequently needed. the humidity is always high here and I have experienced icing on several occasions. I use the hot water type and just leave it on all the time in the fall and spring. It is relatively easy to install and there is no power loss as with heated air. A little pricey but works well.

    HI Mike,
    Even the heavy maintenance manual for the 912 914 talks about carb heat requirements. I have had them ice up just doing carb syncs on a rainy day. I would suggest you have some thing rather postive available.
