Could it be the fuel pressure reg as this will effect higher in the rev range

When I get my hands on a gauge and check carb sync then I will look at fuel flow. It may well be the regulator.
I took off the prop and ran the engine and no vibration up to 5800rpm. Of course there was hardly any throttle required but at least it seems ignition OK.

You should never run your engine without a prop. It needs a load and it could get away from you and over rev.

Also can hammer the crank bearings
