Has anybody had a problem undoing the magnetic plug in the crankcase near the oil filter, and if so how did you manage to get it out. I have tried tapping it and heating it but it is going nowhere. Has anyone tried the cold spray idea Rotax recommend with positive results when all else fails.
The easiest way is to have someone apply pressure with the wrench and then take an aluminum rod and tap it smartly right on the edge of the screw a time or two. Comes out very time without fail. I have never had to heat or use cold. Then I don't put them back in so tight after the first time. Safety wire it when done. If you ever strip the old style Torx #40 screw then it can be removed two ways. One is grab the outside edges with a pair of small vise grips and the other is to use a Dremel tool with a cut off blade and slot the top so you can use a straight tip screwdriver on it.

I have used the vise grip method with success on an old stripped torx plug, used a rod and hammer to give the head of the plug a good loosening smack. fitted a new hex head plug after .
Put the (new) plug in with a C & A gasket under -just like many oil tanks drain plug have - torque it as per drain plug & wire lock. Never too tight, never leaks.
Transforms a desperate annual misery into a really easy job. My tired & tested remedy for years.
Too many pilots avoid disturbing it to check through fear !
Mine twisted off the torx socket the first time I tried. I went flying and got the engine good and warm and immediately after landing I tried it again, and it came out easily.
