Re: 912 F3 - Can I fly without the governor plate ?
by Thomas Hauklien » 14 years ago
Edit, the model 4 propshaft is mabe needed as I belive its shorter and clears the gearbox house part on the crankcase in order to install the o-ring`ed blindplug ? Anyone ??
Will installation of the blindplug require splitting of the engine case as well ?

The only difference between your propshaft Version 3 and a Version 4 propshaft is that there is a plug in the end of the shaft at the flange to keep the oil in.
To convert a V3 propshaft to a V4, put in the plug, part # 244980
(That is one thing I forgot to mention and list in the previous post)
Both the Version 3 and the Version 4 shafts are short to allow either the brass flute to provide the center of the shaft with oil for the prop (V3), or to allow space for the blind plug (V4).
The V3 brass flute and the bearing can be removed with a puller. The o-ring, plug and new bearing can installed without splitting the case. Need only remove the gearbox.
Hope this helps clear it up.

Wow, Thanks ! I am so dissapointed rotax dealers wont help me out, and tell me witch parts I need for the conversion. Without you guys help I would be stuck ! I am new to rotax but finally I get the chance to build and own one. I have done alot og turbo and EFI convertions on jabiru`s and vw`s. See youtube and search "Sonex Turbo" and you will find my profile. "Impultion".
I will equip the rotax with both turbo and fuel injection and I am currently building a rotax dynafocal engine mount for my sonex. http://www.mikro.nlf.no/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=65&func=view&catid=5&id=1496

Yes, you can remove all including oil line and governor plate 22 & 9
P.S. It appears you might be using an older parts manual.
Be sure to download all the latest versions of manuals to be up to date.
I don't believe the Governor cover plate option is shown in the older manual revision image you attached.
