In the IPC manual , there are 2 specs for torque on the M12x1 Plug Screw. The first line says 18ft lbs and the next line says oiled-thread 11 ft lbs. Any thoughts?
Both specs are good. If the bolt and bolt hole are clean and dry, use the higher dry torque setting. If the bolt and/or hole are oiled, use the wet torque setting.
Bill's dead on the mark. Most nuts or bolts a dry torque specification. Those should never be torqued wet or with any lube on them to the dry torque specs unless you want to do repairs just for the fun of it. In this case Rotax gave the dry and wet torque values and they should be adhered to, to prevent any thread damage.
