FUEL FLOW SENDER BEFORE OR AFTER FUEL PUMP?

Hi,

To obtain reasonable accurate readings from a Fuel Flow sender where is the best place to install it: before or after the electrical/mechanical fuel pump (in fuel flow direction)?

    I have a Rans S12-XL with Rotax 912

    I have a fuel flow sensor that work with my Grand Rapid EIS instaled before the Mechanical Fuel Pump.

    Also I have a AUX electrical Fuel Pump and the Fuel Flow sensor is after the AUX Electrical Fuel Pump

    This mean, that the fuel flow sensor is installed between the Mechanical Fuel Pump and the AUX Pump.


    My EIS indicate me, that I am using around 4.5 to 5 gallons per hour.

    Keep in mind that if you have a fuel return line to the tank, you will need two fuel flow sensors.
    One that goes in the line that goe sto the mechanical fuel pump and the other in the return line to the tank.

    Dont know, what model of fuel flos sensor indicator you are using, but in my case, I am using a Grand Rapid EIS and I send the EIS to them in order that they program it so I can use 2 fuel flow sensors.

    Maybe others here can coment.

    Hi Jan,

    It goes before the mechanical pump. It will also depend on how you have a recirculation line setup. If the recirculation line goes back to the gascolator then any where before that and the transducer lines should be level for a few inches before and aft of the transducer. You should also have a fuel filter before the transducer.


    Isaac is correct for the second transducer if your recirculation line goes back to your fuel tank. It's an easier setup the other way.

    Thanks for the advice.

    Unfortunately there is no place to install the FF sender between the elec and mech fuel pump.
