503 Overhaul Time

Thinking of buying 1997 Challenger II long wing. The 503 DCDI was built in 2000 and is the original engine with 367 hours. I know Rotax recommends doing the overhaul @ 300 hours, but it seem like people wait longer to overhaul ? is this true?. The owner says it was decarboned and new gaskets @ 361hours. Can I run this motor to 500 hours if the compression checks good ?

Dont think anybody could guarantee how long one would run for....one of the reasons Rotax pick a conservative 300hrs.

Many people get way more than 300hrs saying that...using good oil helps but who know what its been treated like in years gone by.

But if its running sweet now...no reason why it should do just that for quite some time.
