Bad compression on Rotax 582 blue head

My 582 blue head was i november 2010 at a workshop for professionel decarbing. Afterwards the compression was 124 psi on both cylinders. In the following 6 month the engine was just stored in the basement of my house,thus with conserving oil in both crankcase and cylinders. When I should
put the engine back to service I measured the compression with 2 different testers to only 86 psi, the same omn both cylinders.Anyone that have ideas of what the problem is ?

    is the oil sticky if it is it may have stuck your rings in the piston try washing the oil out with a solvent of some sort

    I think removing the head and the cylinders for inspecsions is the only way to find out.Inspection through the exhaust manifoil did not tell me that anything was wrong.Strange that they have so equal values .

    you can pull the head with out needing parts but if you do the cylinders you will need a base gasket or sealent it is also a good idea to replace the inner head o rings

    Hi Torstein,

    Did you do the compression test cold or was this engine warmed to operating temp. Engines should be close to operating temp for compression test. That's where they run and all metals are expanded at their proper tolerances and fluids are in place. If it wasn't warmed up then don't do anything to it until you do a warm compression test.
    The holds true for the 912 series, too.

    Hi and thanks for your consern!

    The values I referd to was on cold engine.The first, 124 psi, in novemver 2010 on the workingbench of the workshop cranking with the electrical starter and feeding the carb airintake with 2 % oilmixed
    fuel.
    The second value; 86 psi, was also cold 6 months later, cranking with the same starter.I even started it and checked the walues after running a break in prossess described in the manual of the engine.The values had rised to 89 psi.It was starting easy and static rmp was the same as before.

    The last time I checked the compression it was 96-98 psi.I have used 2 different testers hoping that one of the where giving av too low value,but the where very equal values.Looking through the exhaustmanifoil I can not see annything abnormal and the rings are loose.
