I don't know where you've seen it either. It is 100 hrs for an oil change, and recommended 50 hrs if you are using Avgas.

According to SI-912-016-r4 the interval is 50 hours for unleaded and 25 hours for 100LL.

Everyone I know seem to use 25 for 100LL and 50 for auto fuel and 75-100 for plugs. Using plugs past 100 hrs.....Bah-Hum-Bug ;) :)

Its not difficult, its written down in English in the engine maintenance manual and in SI-912-016-r4.

According to the Rotax 912 maintenance manual, Oil changes should be done at 100hrs and plugs changed at 200hrs when using unleaded fuel.

If you use avgas, then it is recommended that you change the oil at 50hrs and plugs at 100hrs.

SI-912-016-R4 says that if you mainly use avgas (more than 30% of the time), change the oil at 50 hrs, if you use Avgas all the time change the oil every 25hrs.

I think Rotax have looked into this and know what they are talking about.

Its good business to tell people they need to change their oil and plugs twice as often as is necessary, but it is not needed, or is this another one of those times when people who don't know what they are talking about know better.

I think I will stick to what the engine manufacturer recommends, and not "hear say".

Hi all,

Let me muddy the water a little further.

SI-912-016-R4 says to change oil every 25 hrs. when mainly (30%) using avgas. Change filter every 50 hrs. when mainly (30%) using avgas. Had to read it several times but thats my understanding.

Oil and filter every 100hrs. with mogas.

Plugs are the cheapest part of this whole equation. I change mine at every annual or 100 hrs.
