If you are out in bright sunlight the spark can be hard to see, in the shade it should be quite visible. First thought is plug gap, it should be .0018". If this is correct and you still have no spark then disconnect the wires coming from your engine leading to your ignition switch. As they just ground the ignitions to shut down this will eliminate a fault in your chassis wiring. If this is the case and it starts you will have to shut off the fuel to stop it.

first you need to check if the float bowls have fuel in them. If they have, are the plugs wet?
If the plugs are wet, then do the suggested disconnect to the ignition switches, and bear in mind the engine is now live and any attempt to start should be done with the aircraft secured and chocked.

If the plugs are dry, then, turn off the fue tap, and a small amount of fuel, say a couple of cc's can be tipped into the plug holes,rotate the engine , no more than once, put the plugs back in and try to start it.

If it go's wait for the engine to stop, and sort out the disconnected swithches, fuel tap etc. Mke sure the carb bowls are full again, and you may need to do the 2cc thing again as the crankcase will be void of any mixture.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I will try the wire disconnect. The bowls do have fuel in them. I am installing a primer system this week to see if that helps. I also ordered a new fuel pump. The plugs are dry even after lots of cranking.

I would also 2nd putting a small amount of mixed fuel down the plug holes and try then.

First, check your carbs bowls should fill up. Put the needle in the winter position. That is 3rd slot from the top. Is your 582 inverted (plugs down)? Inverted 582 are really easy to flood. Do you have the choke (enrichener) hooked up? Keep in mind also that you have to reach close to 200 rpm to get a spark. So make sure you give the pull cord a good yank or make sure your battery is well charged for the starter.

Once you have checked the above, you should pull the choke to 3/4, open the throttle to 1/3 and crank... it will start.

My 582 is inverted and if I send more than 2 primer shots, it floods.

Imo, you dont need the primer circuit, its just a really good way to flood the 582.

Make sure to follow the rotax breakin procedure and watch your coolant temps closely, they are easy to overheat on their first starts, because: the pistons are really tight and generate lots of friction and you might still have air bubbles in your rads. You are also running the engine with poor airflow through the rad (s) during the breakin.

Have you made sure your rotary valve oil reservoir has been bleeded correctly? The rotary shaft gear is brass and you will ruin it within 15 minutes if you dont have the system properly bleeded. (Special procedure if you are inverted)

While youre breaking in the engine, its a good idea to insure your thermostat is working properly. You should feel coolant in the hose and you should see temperature going down when it opens. Bring it back to idle if it goes above 180f.
